Sometimes...

Sometimes I like to believe in the idea that God created us and that he did so in his image. Because if this is true, then he is just as fucked up and imperfect as you and me. And if that's true, then everything makes a lot more sense.

There is a book called "The Sacrament of Mariage"
sounds scary eh?
It does point out something which I feel is quite important... that is the role of the "witness".
We have become so individualised in our society that mariages are no longer "needed" because they are no longer true social/community events. Those who are at a mariage and witness it, they are the ones that in the future support and tend that mariage as well, like a garden. But we are all so stuck in our own little worlds that we don't feel we should have such a responsibility. In fact, I would consider putting on my mariage invitation "Those who attend are responsible for tending the garden of this mariage as much as the two who are getting married. Comming to this ceremony and reception is your agreement to this responsibility"...

Just a few thoughts...

We should discard that which hinders social and artistic renewal... but not ditch the baby with the bathwater....

I guess that depends. On your interpretation of perfection, and your perspective of God.

I might have to agree with you at least in regards to the Western's perspective on God, Heaven, Hell..... But when anyone ascribes attributes to some thing that is supposedly beyond our comprehension, you enocunter a belief system that varies from individual to individual.

Your interpretation is really what you make of it.

Don't let life get you down. It isn't all so imperfect, maybe you just need to look a little deeper?

Dear Little Billy,

You may be right, I may need a hippie hug. But not because life has got me down. In fact, I meant this comment as a positive statement. In fact, I haven't been so content with the imperfections in this world in all my life. I have never dug so deep as I have the last few months, weeks, days. And I'm not putting the shovel away quite yet, either (if ever).

Thanks for the support. And you're right, it varies from person to person and is all what you make of it. Well put.

Ah... That last'n from me didn't work, though if your sense of humor's still as I remember it, Mike, you'd appreciate it. In any case, I feel what you mean. The weirdness and strife of life are as much what make it worth living as the happy-warm-fuzzy times (sometimes more so), and my god is one of both chaos and tranquility.
